...adopting the World English translation as one of my new favorites. Instead of following the normal convention of rendering the Tetragrammaton as "LORD", it transliterates the name. I feel that this gives the text a whole new depth of meaning and majesty, somehow. I'll admit, it can be a bit jarring at times. After all, after hearing Psalm 23:1 for years as "the LORD is my shepherd", how does one properly adjust to, "Yahweh is my shepherd"? But just look at what it does for one of my favorite chapters of scripture, Psalm 29:

The original King James may be hard to read, but it goes so well with Strong's Concordance. It makes it very easy to look up the meanings of the words quickly and easily. When just casually reading, I can uderstand not wanting the KJV however. So many times reading another version, I went to the Concordance and found that it wasn't in there. So I just learned to get past all the thee thy thines etc. But that's me.

I usually use the Modern KJV when at my computer, the NIV when at church, and the New KJV (not sure if that's identical with the "Modern KJV" or not) when in my room doing my daily Bible reading/recitation and prayers. But I think I may have to add this World English version to the list.
Of course, when at my computer, I keep the English translation side-by-side with the Hebrew/Greek text, which is linked to a computerized Strong's Concordance. So I rarely have to worry about not being able to find the word in Strong's.
